Sometimes the traditional way of doing things gets a little boring and you may be looking for something different. Take jewelry boxes for instance.
Most women have a wooden jewelry box on their nightstand or dresser and many of them look the same. With today’s methods of mass production and consumerism, they all start to look similar unless you are willing to spend the money on a high quality custom or handmade jewelry box. So what do you do if you want something different but you do not want to spend a fortune? Well the good news is, with a little searching you can find some unique jewelry boxes and jewelry holders that are beautiful and will not break the bank.
Jewelry Trees & Stands:
If jewelry boxes are not your thing, then maybe a jewelry tree is what you need. Jewelry trees are usually made out of metal such as brass or pewter or are silver plated or powder coated. They can resemble anything from a generic tree to an orchid or cherry tree. These trees often have multiple branches that are used to hang your necklaces, earring and rings on. They usually have a wooden base made of a quality wood with a dish built in to hold additional items.
Similar to a jewelry tree is a jewelry stand. These stands can be made to resemble anything and usually have several levels of dishes that you can store jewelry in. For instance some dishes resemble lily pads or maple leaves while others may resemble a multi-layered bird cage or butterflies.
Although jewelry trees and stands can be beautiful, there is one thing that I would like to point out. Jewelry trees do not provide the protection that a jewelry box will, especially from dust, dirt and light. For items such as silver jewelry that should not be stored in direct sunlight due to tarnishing, you may want to consider whether or not a jewelry tree is the best option for your collection.
Ring Holders & Trays:
If you are a ring collector then you are in luck. There are many unique ring holders available. Some of my favorites are ring holders that resemble animals. For instance, there is a ring holder that resembles an elephant with his trunk pointed up. When it is time to take your rings off, just slip it over the elephant’s trunk and he will hold it until the next time you need it. Similarly, there is a giraffe with his neck pointing straight up. Slip the ring over his neck and the giraffe will store your rings until you are ready to wear them again.
Looking for a unique tray? Why not consider a silk tray. Padded with a silk lining these small trays make excellent temporary storage that fits nicely on any nightstand and is perfect for holding jewelry while sleeping instead of having to put it away in a jewelry box. Additionally, there are other unique trays such as those made of ceramic and shaped like a magnolia flower, or a small silver tray shaped like a heart.
