We have all seen people with gorgeous smiles and seemingly perfect teeth. The truth is, more likely than not, that person had invisible braces or metal braces at some point in their life in order to get that perfect smile. Only a small percentage of us are born with that amazing Hollywood smile. For the rest of us we have to get braces.
Braces may as well be a four letter word especially for those that are in the public eye or are teenagers. Braces can give us that awesome smile that we may want but we have to go through some pain and anguish to get there. A normal braces treatment can last up to 4 years; for a teenager that is their entire high school career.
We will take a look at some options that are available for those of us that have to get braces but don’t want to necessarily want the rest of the world to know it. These “invisible braces” are like ninja braces that help to straighten and align the teeth without many people knowing it.
Clear Braces
One type of braces that gets ninja credentials are clear braces. Clear braces are not actually braces in the traditional sense but more like clear mouth guards.
They are called braces because they do the same function as traditional braces but only in a slightly different manner.
These clear mouth guards or trays are actually created by a mold that the dentist will take of a patient’s teeth. Then by using sophisticated software the dentist can have the clear trays made based on the input of the treatment variables the dentist set up. This creates a system of clear trays that a person wears for about two weeks and then progresses to the next tray. Over the period of the treatment the teeth will be guided into the desired position by the trays.
Lingual Braces
Another type of braces that could be classified as ninja in the world of braces are lingual braces. These are actually traditional metal braces that we all know and loathe. They have brackets that are attached to the teeth and have a metal wire that connects them all. They are tightened and adjusted periodically to straighten the teeth.
The biggest difference with lingual braces is that they are attached to the inside of the teeth rather than the outside like normal braces. This makes them extremely unnoticeable to others when you smile and talk. The only time people will notice them is if a person that has lingual braces yawns or opens their mouth wide.
Even though someone might need braces doesn’t mean that they need to broadcast it to the rest of the world. Clear braces, or clear trays, and lingual braces are just two of the options available to people that want to have straight teeth for a wonderful smile.
